This Choice Hotels comprehensive online certification program is designed for leaders who are responsible for the daily operation and management of a Choice-branded property. The HOST Program is available to owners, general managers, and other property managers.
We know how valuable your time is so we make getting your hotel operation certified easy! Choice University’s Hospitality Operations Success Training (HOST) program is virtual and completely online – no travel and no time away from your hotel is required.
To earn the HOST Certification, you need to complete the following:
- Complete the eLessons and videos on ChoiceU.com (you’ve probably completed some of them already!)
- Participate in eight live virtual workshops
- Complete knowledge application activities at your hotel
- Pass three short online exams

It’s not just GM certification! We know there may be many others at your hotel that help manage operations so we’ve made sure those individuals are equipped with skills to successfully do that. Choice accepts HOST certification from any manager-level employee (assistant general manager, front desk manager, etc…) at your hotel to fulfill your brand’s operations certification requirement.

Self-Paced Online Training Modules
Customize your own learning path! We know that many of you have already completed a few of the eLessons and videos required for certification. That’s great! You can skip those or take them again for review; we’re leaving your professional development in your hands.
Interactive Virtual Workshops and Activities
HOST includes eight Strengthen Your Skills Virtual Workshops. Just like an in-classroom workshop, you can still ask the facilitator questions, converse with your peers, and yes—access homework activities. Choice University Learning Facilitators are experts in hospitality operations training and are rooting for your success. Don’t be shy to ask for help before, during, and after your sessions. In most cases, after participating in a virtual workshop, you will be required to apply your knowledge through an online activity.
Online Exams
The program consists of three short, online exams. If you don’t pass an exam — don’t fear! You can find out which questions you missed what concepts you might want to revisit or you can retake the exam right away.
